PRINCIPAL'S SON GOES CRAZY ON COPS - Begs to be shot, punches officer for not doing so

PAULA GORDON, STAR Writer

The son of the principal for a prominent high school in Kingston had to be taken in for psychiatric evaluation on Sunday after he launched an attack on a police officer, THE STAR understands.

Information reaching THE STAR is that about 7:45 p.m., the 28-year-old man allegedly entered the New Kingston Police Post and proceeded to speak with an on-duty senior officer.

THE STAR understands that the man then asked the officer what could he do for the police to kill him. When no answer was forthcoming, the man allegedly punched the officer in the face.

This led officers on the scene to accost and arrest him.

psychiatric evaluation

Furthermore, THE STAR understands that sometime later he was transported to a hospital for psychiatric evaluation because he showed more signs of odd behaviour. The evaluation revealed that he was on the verge of a traumatic breakdown.

Since then, the incident has been confirmed by the St Andrew Central police. However, THE STAR understands that no charges have been laid against the principal's son.

In a somewhat similar incident in February, the police in St Elizabeth reportedly shot and killed 'Ram Pus', who residents say was mentally unstable. According to reports, he was shot after he assaulted a 77-year-old man with a piece of board and a machete. During the incident, he also attacked the police inflicting chop wounds to one of the officers who was on the scene.
