SHELDON WILLIAMS. STAR Writer
A teacher is now thankful to be alive after she was abducted and sexually assaulted on a day specially celebrated for teachers. Amanda Brown* told THE STAR she was held at knife point, blindfolded, robbed, sexually assaulted and thrown from a taxi by a cabbie whose car she had boarded to take her to school. Brown took a taxi in downtown Kingston but that taxi driver later changed his mind and carried her to New Kingston where he assisted her in getting another cab to take her to her destination. Little did she know that it would be an ill-fated ride. She said when she boarded the taxi, every thing seemed ordinary as another passenger was inside and the driver took him to his destination successfully. However, after she became the lone passenger, the driver began acting suspiciously and she immediately sent a 'please call me' message from her cellphone to one of her friends, anticipating that something would go wrong. locked the doors "After him pass TGIF, I see him winding up the window and I ask him why him winding up the window, him seh him a go turn on the ac and I seh no, me a cum off but he continued to do it," Brown recalled, explaining that she told him to pull over for her to get out but he locked the doors. "Me kick the doors but them never did a open," she explained. She said the driver pulled a knife and threatened to stab her. She was then blindfolded with an handkerchief and assaulted and robbed. She said the cabbie caressed her breast before grabbing her purse and phone. He then returned the phone. "Him did tek me phone from me but him throw it back at me," she emphasised. Brown said she was pushed from the vehicle and fell on the pavement and the car sped off. She later ran towards her school and explained what had happened and was assisted to the Matilda's Corner Police Station. The St Andrew Central police confirmed the incident and said it is under investigation. *NAME CHANGED |
