A chef who allegedly stole nine buckets of seasoned chicken from his former workplace was offered $60,000 bail in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday. He is Jason Jenkins, 23, from a Kingston 20 address, who is to return to court for trial on July 21. Allegations are that on April 19, Jenkins, a former employee of the restaurant, broke into the eatery and stole nine buckets of chicken valued at $56,000. It is alleged that the accused hit out a window of the restaurant to gain entry, before making his escape on to a nearby school compound. He was apprehended by security personnel who later handed him over to the police, who arrested and charged him with storeroom breaking and larceny. "I did not do it, sir," he reportedly said to the police when he was arrested. In the meantime, as a condition of Jenkins bail, he is to report to the Duhaney Park police station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays between the hours of 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. |
