Bryans Bay, Port Antonio:

The Epping gas station at Bryans Bay in Portland was the scene of a late night robbery by a gunman on Tuesday.

The police report that shortly after 10 p.m on Tuesday, a man was spotted by pump attendants and a security guard entering the main office at the service station with a towel wrapped over his face.

According to the police, shortly after explosions were heard, and pump attendants on the outside along with the security guard scampered for cover.

It is reported that the man fled the area with a gun in his hand, and escaped in a nearby informal settlement.

The police were called in, and further checks revealed that the night cashier, who was still shaken up from the ordeal, was robbed at gunpoint of cash amounting to $50,000.

It is not yet known whether or not the security guard who was on duty at the time of the incident was armed.

The service station is located along a busy thoroughfare. However, that area is oftentimes relatively quiet, especially after 9 p.m.
