Defending champions Hanover will host neighbours St James at Watson Taylor Park following the national round of 16 draw in the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championship at the Institute of Sports headquarters yesterday.
Kingsvale, the parish representatives in Season two, have big shoes to fill after parishioners Claremont won the inaugural title and will face Tennament Youth, who were the first to qualify for the dreaded knockout round.
The draw saw all 16 qualifiers placed in two pools of eight based on their geographic location, with the first set of matches scheduled for May 7 and 8. Based on last season's performance, the top four teams in each pool were seeded and they will play at home for the first round. St Andrew champions, Andrew's Pen, are at home to Portmore's Westchester in the first of two matches at the Constant Spring playing field, before Portland's Sherwood Forest take on Kingston winners Romantic in the feature. Race Track of Clarendon travel to Brook's Park, Manchester, where they will meet Greenvale; Ocho Rios await Belgium of Westmoreland at Buckfield; St Elizabeth's Warminster are on the road against Flamingo of Trelawny at Jackson Town; Winchester of St Thomas entertain Central Village from St Catherine; while play-off qualifiers, Crook's Street, journey to Clembhard's Park to play Port Maria United. The quarter-finals are set for May 14 and 15, with the semi-finals down for May 22 and the final scheduled for May 28 at the National Stadium. The champions will collect $500,000, with second place receiving $150,000, third place collecting $100,000 and fourth place walking away with $50,000. Each parish winner will also receive $50,000, courtesy of associate sponsors Ariel, VO5 and Oral-B, while an additional $30,000 will go to the most disciplined team in each parish. |
