I am writing to ask your opinion. I am a live-in helper. When I came to work with these people, they treated me well. Then the woman became ill, and I have been helping her. They have children but they are living abroad.

One of their sons came to Jamaica and fell in love with me. He spent three weeks in Jamaica and we had sex four times while he was here. Only on one occasion he didn't use a condom. The first three times he used it. But the fourth time he said he didn't have anymore. He told me nothing would happen because he wouldn't discharge in me. But while we were having sex, he ejaculated in me. I asked him why he did that and he said he couldn't help it.

I am now five months pregnant, and he told me that I should leave his parents' home. When I told his parents I am pregnant for their son, his father said his son wouldn't have sex with me because I am a helper. And I am lying on him. He told me I have to leave his house.

I know this child belongs to their son. The guy said he will support the child, but I should stop telling people he is the father. He is married and he doesn't want his wife to know he got me pregnant. I am confused. He promised to send me money to buy baby clothes. I don't know what to do because I have two children in the country with my mother. I can't afford another.

Dear L.,

I suggest you consider giving up this child for adoption. Discuss that with the father. He doesn't want anybody to know he got you pregnant, so he shouldn't object to the suggestion of giving up the child for adoption.

I am sorry to hear his father insulted you by saying his son will not have sex with you because you are a helper. Forgive him. He doesn't know better.

Call the adoption board. Their numbers are listed. They will tell you what to do.
