Investigators have still not yet identified the body of a physically challenged man that was discovered with his throat slashed in a room at a motel along Port Henderson Road (Back Road) in Portmore, St Catherine, last Saturday.

The St Catherine South Homicide Unit yesterday said the body had not yet been identified and they were still searching for the person/s responsible for the homicide.

Reports are that sometime on Thursday, the wheelchair-bound man checked into the motel along with a female companion.

It was after the staff realised that he had overstayed his time that they went to check on him.

His body was reportedly found on a bed with his throat slashed. His wheelchair was parked beside the bed.

When THE STAR visited the motel on Monday, the news team was told that neither the man or his companion were regulars at the motel.

"Him check in from Thursday and was to check out Saturday morning at 10. 'Bout 10:30 a.m., dem go check pan him and find him. Di woman fled the scene," said an employee at the motel.

Other employees at the motel were quick to add that the woman was not a prostitute from the area. "No, is not a regular Back Road girl."

This is the second murder to take place in Kingston's unofficial 'red light district' since the start of the year. In January, Carl Robinson was found dead in a motel room along the same stretch of road.

Investigators said he had suffered a gunshot wound to his upper body. The perpetrator(s) in that case remain(s) on the run.
