One dead, two injured

Up to late yesterday, police said they have not made any headway with their investigations into the killing of a security guard and the injuring of two others in a robbery incident along Spanish Town Road, St Andrew, on Friday.

The slain security guard, 30-year-old Andrae White, of the Hawkeye Electronic Security Limited, was also a member of the Reserve Unit of the Jamaica Defence Force.

The incident reportedly occurred about 10:15 in the morning.

It is reported that the guard and one of his colleagues were shot after they tried to prevent a robbery on a coaster bus, which had stopped in the vicinity of Riverton City.

A witness was also injured in the incident. The gunmen involved in the daylight robbery remain on the run.

The St Andrew South police, who are investigating, said they are following some leads and are hoping to make a breakthrough soon.
