GANG LEADER CHARGED

Alleged leader of the Rose Town-based Discipline Gang, 41-year-old Uriel 'Rookie' James, was yesterday charged by detectives attached to the Major Investigations Taskforce (MIT).

James has been charged with shooting with intent and illegal possession of firearm arising from an incident which took place earlier this year. He is booked to appear in court later this week.

FIRE DESTROYS HOUSE IN WESTMORELAND

Fire believed to be the work of arsonists yesterday destroyed a six apartment board house at Mango Hill district, Little London, Westmoreland.

Reports from the Little London police are that about 12:30 a.m., the owner of the house was asleep when he was awakened by a loud explosion. He then realised that the house was on fire. The police and fire department were summoned and a unit from the Savanna-la-Mar Fire Department extinguished the blaze.

Loss is estimated at $2.5 million. The house was not insured.
