Paternity Puzzle: Caught up in the cheating web
Crystal Harrison, Star Writer

Twenty-seven-year oldSian Morris, a mechanic by profession and 21-year-oldJody Graham, unemployed, both from St Catherine, were lovers while Jody cheated on her boyfriend.

After exchanging words for the first time back in 2009 at a bar in the parish, both parties became sexually active despite being with other people. However, Jody's cheating ways eventually caught up with her.

SHE SAID: "When I met Sian in late 2009, I did already have my boyfriend and I was talking to both of them at the same time; but now I really regret meeting Sian because he is not supporting the child."

HE SAID: "What I can remember is that when her boyfriend did find out that she did a give him bun, him did put her out and a so she did come live with me for a short period, but her mother didn't agree with it."

When Jody moved in with Sian, she continued to have sexual relations with her previous boyfriend despite him kicking her out. Unfortunately, she became pregnant.

HE SAID: "All the time she was still sleeping with her boyfriend and when I asked her about it, she couldn't deny it. Me and her really couldn't work out and so mi did tell her to gwaan her ways."

After giving birth in October 2010, Jody left Sian's house in December. She said because she had been living with Sian when she became pregnant, she decided that she would give the child his last name.

HE SAID:"The child is presently in my name and if the child is not mine then I would want her to change the child's name, however if the child is mine then I would take full responsibility of my son. Right now we don't really talk much and I am not interested in a relationship with Jody."

SHE SAID: "To be really honest, the child looks more like my boyfriend side of family. People in my community and my family too believe that the child is not for Sian, so I would love the test to just clarify everything."

She further said that, "We are no longer together and my family thinks that the child is the splitting image of my boyfriend's brother, the child doesn't resemble Sian."

HE SAID: You have people who think that mi a mine jacket, so me too eager to find out if I am the real father."

SHE SAID: "We broke up in December last year because he use to tell me horrible things, like he didn't want me and he was just using me. If the child is not his then all the better because my boyfriend supports me and if Sian wants me to change the child's name if the child is not his, then I would do just that. If the child is for Sian, I guess I will have to just live with that."

Today, we continue with one of our latest and perhaps most buzz-worthy feature, Paternity Puzzle. The feature will attempt to help families solve paternity disputes. Every Wednesday, we will publish the story of a mother and an alleged father, who will both give their sides in tales of allegations and denials.

Be sure to follow the series as THE STAR awards a free DNA test sponsored by Caribbean Genetics. Each month, one of the four cases published will get a free test and reveal the truth once and for all.
