Leaders Tivoli Gardens survived a nervous trip to the Harbour View Stadium in their penultimate Digicel Premier League contest, holding out for a 0-0 draw.

This result, coupled with Boys' Town's 2-0 victory at Waterhouse, ensures that there is still a lot to play for when both teams meet in their title-deciding clash at the Edward Seaga Sports Complex on Sunday with one point separating them. Tivoli now have 69 points with Boys' Town next on 68. Tivoli need only to avoid defeat to clinch the title.

little surprise

Considering what was at stake yesterday, it's little surprise that the contest took the intense and cagey shape that it did, particularly in the first half of play.

Both teams did most of their work in the middle of the park, resulting in very little action in either offensive thirds.

Perhaps a little unsettled by the exploits of Boys' Town in their contest away to Waterhouse, Tivoli Gardens were anything but their usual attacking self, and struggled throughout the match, particularly in the opening period, to construct any meaningful openings.

The hosts looked to pass the ball along the ground and hold possession, while Tivoli Gardens mainly employed a counter-attacking set-up, with Navion Boyd deployed on the right wing.

There were, however, a few chances in the second half. Harbour View's Kemeel Wolfe forced goalkeeper Edsel Scott to make a low save at his near post in the 65th minute.

Harbour View's Marcelino Blackburn was ejected soon afterwards for a foul on Christopher Jackson in the 77th minute. But before the Harbour View protests had died down, Tivoli's Damion Gordon also received his marching orders for a second bookable offence in the 84th minute.

At Drewsland, midfielders Fabian Francis and Marvin Morgan struck in the first half to guide Boys' Town to a 2-0 win over Waterhouse. Francis netted after 21 minutes, while the wily Morgan scored on the stroke of half-time.

"It was a workmanlike performance from my team," said Boys Town coach Andrew Price.

"The field was hard and dry, not conducive to our type of passing, football, but we did what we needed to in the first half, that of taking the lead. We then consolidated somewhat in the second half. It's now onto the last game."

"We lapsed twice and it cost us the game," said Marcel Gayle, coach of Waterhouse. "We then made a couple of changes in the hope of getting back into the game, but they were disciplined in defence and held us."
