COPS CHARGE POPULAR JOCKEY |

|
Popular jockey Andrew Nunez was remanded in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Nunez, 32, from Gregory Park in Portmore, St Catherine, is accused of holding a man while his brother chopped him repeatedly. He is charged with wounding and aiding and abetting. In applying bail, defence attorney Tana Scarlett told the court that Nunez was not a flight risk. Bail was, however, denied after the court heard that following the incident, the accused house was burnt to the ground. Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green told the attorney that bail would be denied as Nunez needs to seek alternative accommodation. Allegations are that on April 7, Nunez and his brother went to the complainant's home. He was said to have held the complainant while his brother, who is still being sought, chopped him. Nunez was picked up later by the police and charged. He returns to court on April 29, when another bail application would be entertained. |
