Patrick Douglas of Sherwood Forest (left) and Hartford's Gregory Burke in a tussle for possession during Sunday's Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championship match at Carder Park in Port Antonio, Portland. Sherwood Forest won 2-0 to capture the Portland title. - Contributed Sherwood Forest were crowned Portland champions in the Claro/INSPORTS All-Island Community Football Championship at Carder Park on Sunday after a comfortable win in the parish final. Sherwood Forest got the better of Hartford 2-0, courtesy of strikes from Jermaine Ming (45th) and Horace Facey (50th). Hartford had only themselves to blame, as faulty shooting let them down throughout. At the other end, their nervy defence was punished twice for a lapse in concentration on the stroke of half-time and just after the resumption. Sherwood joins Tennament Youth (St James); Greenvale (Manchester); Race Track (Clarendon); Central Village (St Catherine); Westchester (Portmore); Romantic (Kingston); Andrews Pen (St Andrew); Port Maria (St Mary); Ocho Rios SC (St Ann) and Flamingo (Trelawny) as parish champions to have qualified for the national round of 16. Meanwhile, Belgium and Desta will contest the Westmoreland final on April 24 at a venue to be announced. This after Belgium drubbed Retreat 5-0 in Sunday's semi-finals, while Desta got the better of GP All Star 4-2 on penalties, after both sides played to a nil-all tie. The St Elizabeth final will be contested on April 23 at St Elizabeth Technical High School with first-time finalists Warminster playing Balaclava.
