May Pen bridge closed for repairs |

The National Works Agency (NWA) is advising that the May Pen Railway bridge, Main Street, Clarendon, will be closed to pedestrian traffic until Monday April 18 at 6 a.m. The bridge was closed as of yesterday Chief Executive Officer of the NWA, Patrick Wong, has advised that repair work on the bridge has started, and heavy equipment will be used over the weekend. As a result, the bridge has been closed to effect repairs. The work will take about six weeks to complete. He said it is another Jamaica Infrastructure Development Programme project. no vehicles "We will do the necessary repairs, so that we can maintain, at least, pedestrian traffic, but the bridge will be closed to vehicular traffic for, at least, six weeks," Wong said. Motorists travelling from the direction of Mineral's Heights or Palmer's Cross towards the town centre should use the alternative route - Chenton Road, Busta-mante Highway, Glenmuir Road, and Anderson Drive. The reverse obtains for motorists travelling from the town centre towards Mineral Heights or Palmer's Cross. |
