Flour dumplings leave one dead |

Rasbert Turner, STAR Writer A meal of liver and flour dumplings has left a bitter taste in the mouth of a St Catherine family, following the death of one member. Gifford Williams, 67, died after he was rushed to the Spanish Town Hospital on Thursday evening shortly after eating the meal of dumplings and liver. Three other family members were treated and released. "It was God why mi neva eat none a di food as mi wasn't hungry, and fling it give di dawg and after it eat the food it drop dead," Blanche Williams, widow of the dead man said. medical attention The flour was allegedly given to the Church Pen family by a member of the community. THE STAR was told there were warning signs as on Monday a relative reportedly consumed a portion of the flour and had to seek medical attention. "One a wi relative eat some and was sick bad. So we never trust it, but him sey wi believe in too much foolishness," a female relative reasoned. Samples of the flour and the remainder of the meal have been taken for testing. Meanwhile, the Old Harbour police and the St Catherine Health Authority are investigating the matter. |
