Court seeks to find out if ...NURSE MARRIES DEAD MAN FOR MONEY?

A nurse accused of forging documents, including two marriage certificates to claim matrimony to a dead man in order to have access to his assets, was remanded in custody in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's court earlier this week.

The defendant, Maxine Doleres Webb-Peart ,45, of a Old Harbour address in St Catherine, is charged with obtaining property by false pretence and conspiracy to defraud. She was remanded until April 18.

The court heard allegations that among the documents reportedly forged were three electoral identification cards in different names and birth dates, along with the two marriage certificates, also in different names and dates, and a previous marriage certificate using the name June Beverly Watts.

sickly

The court further heard claims that the accused had assisted in taking care of the now deceased, Bertram Peart, when he was alive and was sickly.

When Peart was discharged from hospital, Webb was reportedly employed by his family to take care of him.

Peart later reportedly died on November 28, 2008 and after his death, his children were informed that Webb had actually become Mrs Webb-Peart.

Investigations revealed that there are two marriage certificates indicating marriages between Peart and the Webb dated September 27, 2008 and the other on December 3, 2008. Both certificates were said to have been forged and fraudulent.

Additional investigations also revealed that a will was fraudulent and therefore not probated.

Also, when the will was made on September 18, 2008, Peart had been in hospital from September 6 and didn't leave until September 24 of the same year, thereby revealing inconsistencies.
