A St Catherine man who told the court it was the devil why he stole Old Spice deodorant was sentenced to 10 days' hard labour in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. He is Roger Broderick, 25, of Spanish Town, St Catherine. Broderick pleaded guilty and was asked to explain by the Resident Magistrate Marcia Dunbar-Green. "The devil overwhelmed me to take the deodorant, Your Honour," Broderick told the court. The court heard that on March 14, he went into the Shoppers' Fair Food Store. He took up the deodorant and placed it in his pocket. He was held before he left the store. The police were called and he was charged with simple larceny. |
