Dynamites get mixed reaction from judges

Progressive dancers

This week's Dancing Dynamite show was all about variety as each team was given a different genre to which they were supposed to put their own spin and 'bring it.'

Cramp Dem and Infamous were eliminated so they were not given the opportunity to perform on this week's show. However, before the individual groups took to the stage, the members of the competition did an opening number to a dancehall medley.

The group with the highest number of votes this week, Kritical Squad took to the stage to showcase their jazz skills. The judging panel for the night that consisted of the female trio of Kerry-Ann, Weezy and Chelsha from Vybz Ihayatas were all impressed with the opening routine.

Kerry-Ann and Weezy commended them on their research and gave them nine points, while Chelsha gave them a 10.

Xcalade dancers were not to be outdone as they too selected jazz. They tried valiantly to live up to the standard set by Kritical Squad but it fell flat. It lacked energy and they lost the audience's attention. Weezy commended them for their effort and gave them seven points. Kerry-Ann also gave them seven points but Chelsha encouraged them to work a little harder since it was a genre that they were uncomfortable with before giving them a mere five points.

Kleva k's were up next with dancehall gospel. Chelsha gave them eight points because they lacked energy. Kerry-Ann agreed that it lacked energy but had a nice choreography so they scored seven points. Weezy concurred with Kerry-Ann.

The clear crowd favourite for the night was Flava Expressions who danced to retro dancehall. Full of energy and theatrics, both Kerry-Ann and Weezy thought that the routine was entertaining from beginning to end. Chelsha said that it was clear that the duo 'shell dung' the venue. With their song choices and appropriate dance moves, they captured the audience and got a full 30 from all three judges combined.

great performances

Another favourite Ed Haadie chose soca but this week substituted one of the male dancers for a female. Weezy loved the costumes and the use of stage and gave them a 10. Kerry-Ann commended all the dancers on great performances for the night and gave them a 10. Chelsha, never at a loss for words, commented on the vibrancy of the routine and also gave them a 10.

Diamond Squad chose gospel for the night. Chelsha thought that there should have been more energy in a gospel routine and weezy thought it was a nice enough routine but lacked energy and so they both gave them six points. Kerry-Ann, however, gave them props on their research and awarded them with seven points.

The Swedish duo of Double Trouble were up next with modern contemporary. Chelsha was very impressed with the routine and gave them a 10. Kerry-Ann wasn't as impressed, and explained that there were elements that were missing and others that could be capitalised on. She gave them seven points. Weezy, however, gave them nine points.

Progressive dancers got retro dancehall but did poorly. Kerry-Ann, Weezy and Chelsha all thought that the routine was on one level and lacked synchronization, giving them five, four and six points, respectively.

Dancing Youth danced to hip hop and got eight points from each of the judges.

Black Eagle were the final performers for the night and were commended by all judges on their use of props. Weezy gave them seven points, Chelsha and Kerry-Ann each giving nine points.
