Joe Harris emerged winner of the Dancin For The Star contest held at The Gleaner Company's Sports Club, North Street, recently. - Winston Sill A new theme night that will be introduced for the first time in Dancing Dynamite history is the Sponsors Pick. Come Sunday, each sponsor will be sending a company representative to dance with one of the 10 remaining groups left in the competition. This is a first for any dancing competition in Jamaica and according to executive producer and host of the show Jennifer 'Jenny Jenny' Small, "Every week we try to throw in something new and this year is a crazy year for us here at Dancing Dynamite so we decided to get the sponsors in on the wildness. We believe that there are dancers in these companies but because they are on the job they are not able to showcase their dance skills so I thought it would have been really good to link the dancers and the sponsors together in the competition," she ended. Being that The STAR is a sponsor of the competition, we were also included in the raffle and come Sunday, April 17th, 2011, a STAR representative/employee Joe Harris will take centre stage with Ed Haadie to perform a hip-hop routine. When The STAR spoke to Ed Haadie about their choice, they were overjoyed. Troy shared, "Before the raffle we wanted to be aligned to either of three sponsors, CVM, STAR or Lactite Super Glue so getting one of those three choices definitely means a lot to us." Delvin stated that they have no idea what they are going to take to the routine but he definitely knows that "it goin sawt out." They admitted that hip hop was a hard genre but felt confident that they will be able to carry off a decent routine. Joe Harris is also looking forward to the partnership. "We know each other from before the Dancing Dynamite competition so we have we ting sawt out," he stated. Come Sunday night, be prepared as all the sponsors will be joining the dynamites on stage for a battle of the best. Don't miss it! |
