In filling the gap left by the absence of Death Before Dishonour and raising funds for the Magnificent Troopers Drum Corp, popular selector Ricky Trooper will be staging Tag Team Sound Clash.

The selector said the event will be held on Easter Monday, April 25, at Club Cali, Cooper's Pen, Trelawny. Blunt Posse, Poison Dart and Tek-9 will be representing the United States and they will be facing off against the Jamaican team that will include Sound Trooper, Black Kat and Interceptor.

Ricky Trooper said his marching band, Magnificent Troopers Drum Corp, has been trying to raise funds amounting to approximately US$45,000 (J$ 3,870,000)

"Di kids dem want some wind instruments and di easy way fi get it is fi just raise some funds. A more than one fund-raiser mi have in place and when mi go overseas mi tek some funds and put inna it," he told THE STAR.

Previously, he said funds were raised to buy uniforms and other instruments.

Trooper said Tag Team Sound Clash would also be filling the void left by Death Before Dishonour that was staged for the last time at Pier One in Montego Bay last April.

"They used to have the clash series but dat nah gwaan again so mi seh di best ting is fi keep a clash," he said, noting that Death Before Dishonour was an event that was loved and will be dearly missed by people in the western end of the island, as well as visitors to the country.

"It will fill the gap 'cause is like yuh have some of the best selectors in the world. So di people dem, a long time dem no see Panther and Trooper pon one side. The feedback pon it has been good so far. Dem a look forward to it. Mi just want dem come out and support the cause."

However, this new event will take a different format and Trooper boasts that it is the first of its kind in Jamaica.

"Is like how dem do wrestling. If one a get beat up di next one go to him rescue. Three a wi a work together fi defeat the opponent. If dem nah play the right song, we go in and play it," he said.
