Turntable twins Alric and Boyd are among some top producers on US-based singer/actress Jill Scott's upcoming album.

The album, which is scheduled for release in the summer, is called Just Before Dawn: Jill Scott From the Vault. The songs on this album were compiled and selected from previous recording sessions and will be released on her former label, Hidden Beach. It is one of two albums that Jill Scott will be releasing soon. The other is called Words and Sounds Vol.4: The Light Of The Sun that will be released on her new label, Warner Bros Records.

Boyd James explained that the song was produced a few years ago and it should have been on her last album. But with the song finally getting some exposure, the duo is pleased.

"The song was done a few years ago and it was supposed to be released on her last album but because of label issues it wasn't released. It was a great song and we knew that it had the potential to be a hit. It was almost like a reggae song. We are happy that there is finally light on the song. It has been on my mind for years," he told THE STAR.

James said Jill Scott is an artiste who they have admired for years and finally got the opportunity to meet her through a mutual friend, Kenny Meez, who is also part of their Federation Sound.

"We always wanted to work with Jill Scott. Her voice and personality are attractive. We were introduced to her by a mutual friend Kenny Meez. We asked him to link us up and he did. It was recorded in Philadelphia at her label. It was a great experience and she's a wonderful person," he said noting that they are also working on another song with her.

"We are happy and ecstatic to be chosen to be on this album. On this album, there are a lot of Grammy-winning producers. It's an honour to be on it."

In addition to their work with Jill Scott, James said they are working with other acts in Barbados and Trinidad. Being signed to Neyo's Compound Entertainment label, he said they are also doing work with Neyo and Rihanna.
