The 22-year-old mother of twin girls who perished in a fire at their Kingston 2 home remains in hospital after she fainted in court recently.

When Kerri-Ann Watson's matter was called up in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court last Friday, it was set to be next mentioned on April 13.

Watson, who has been charged with manslaughter, was recently denied bail because Senior Resident Magistrate Judith Pusey requested that the report from the fire department be provided to the court before bail is considered.

Allegations are that on March 21, Watson locked her two-year-old twins, Shannaya and Latoya Wave, in a room of her house and left them without adult supervision.

It is further alleged that fire of unknown origin started inside the room and the girls were killed.

Previously, Watson's attorney, Kent Gammon, argued that the woman had gone to get food for her children when the incident happened.

He further argued that since being in custody, his client has not been eating properly and that her continued stay in the lock-up is not helping her state of mind.

Watson had broken down in tears when the allegations against her were being read.
