A woman who allegedly got into a fight with a man because he stole her handcart had her $30,000 bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court on Friday.

She is Latoya Stewart, 31, from East Street, Kingston. Stewart has been charged with felonious wounding.

John Hamilton, 44, who allegedly stole Stewart's handcart is facing unlawful wounding and simple larceny charges.

Hamilton, who is also from East Street, was offered bail in the amount of $80,000.

Both accused are to return to court on June 7, when the matter will be mentioned as the medical reports are outstanding.

Allegations are that on March 11, about 1:30 p.m, the two were involved in an argument when Stewart accused Hamilton of stealing her handcart that was laden with ground provisions.

It is reported that during the argument a fight developed in which Stewart used a knife to cut Hamilton on his hand. It is further reported that Hamilton then used his knife to cut Stewart on her right index finger.

As a condition of Hamilton's bail, he is to report to the Harbour View Police Station on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
