A St Catherine man who is accused of molesting a 14-year-old girl two weeks after he was released from prison for a similar offence was remanded when he appeared in court last week. He is Richard Malave, a 29-year-old labourer of Glengoffe district in St Catherine. When Malave appeared before Justice Raymund King in the St Catherine Circuit Court last Thursday, he was assigned legal aid. It was decided that the court would facilitate a bail application on April 14. The allegations are that on October 10, 2008, about 7 p.m., the complainant was on her way from school. The court heard that she was accosted by the accused. It was further heard that she was held and dragged into bushes, where she was buggered. The matter was reported to the police and the accused was later pointed out by the complainant. He was charged with abduction and buggery by Detective Sergeant Leonard Stewart of the St Catherine North Police Division. |
