An unemployed man accused of attempting to extort money from a pharmacy employee was remanded after pleading guilty in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's (RM) Court on Friday. Sentencing for St Catherine resident Patrick McMaster, 44, has been delayed until April 5 as presiding judge Senior RM Judith Pusey requested that the court be provided with his record. Allegations are that on March 28, about 8:30 a.m., the complainant was at work when the defendant approached her and handed her a note demanding money. The note also stated that she would be killed if she didn't meet his demands. After reading the note, the complainant looked up at the accused and allegedly said, "Give yuh what, I don't have any to give yuh." Further allegations are that the accused continued his demands telling the complainant to give him the monies in her drawer. However, when his demands were not met he walked away. An alarm was raised and the accused was held. The police was summoned and he was arrested. |
