The St Catherine North Traffic Department is searching for the driver of a grey motor car, who caused the death of a pedal cyclist yesterday.
Dead is Keeble Jones, a 35-year-old construction worker of Dam Head district Spanish Town, St Catherine. Reports from the police are that about 3:40 a.m., Jones was riding his bicycle along Walks Road in the company of another man when he was hit from the cycle by a motor car. "He was a very hard-working man who did construction although is a difficult job," Jones cousin, Geovanni Heslop, said. Heslop said Jones was planning to visit his girlfriend with a sundae after work. Jones was pronounced dead at the Spanish Town Hospital. Investigators told THE STAR the driver is being sought for questioning. "It is not the first a driver has left the scene of an accident without making a report," a corporal said. On Sunday, March 20, about 2;15 p.m., the driver of a Toyota Hiace, which killed Kingston resident Garwayne Watson along the Mandela Highway, fled and is still being sought by police. - R.T. |
