Man accused of raping 18-y-o arrested

A St Catherine man who was granted bail after being charged for breaching the Dangerous Drugs Act, was again arrested yesterday for allegedly raping an 18-year-old girl.

Information reaching THE WEEKEND STAR is that the complainant was raped about a month ago outside the Palais Royal Nightclub along Ripon Road, St Andrew.

According to reports, on the night in question, the complainant was allegedly choked, beaten then raped by the 27-year-old accused man. The matter was reported to the New Kingston Police Post and she received medical treatment.

THE WEEKEND STAR understands that on March 31, about 12:30 a.m. the complainant was in the Half-Way Tree area, when she saw the accused and pointed him out to police officers on mobile patrol.

It is further said that the accused was taken to the New Kingston Police Post and later transported to the Half-Way Tree lock-up where he is to be processed by officers from Centre for the Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse.

The New Kingston police, who confirmed the incident, say that investigations will continue.
