Man gets life sentence for murder

A 40-year-old man who was found guilty of killing his former girlfriend was sentenced to life imprisonment in the St Elizabeth Circuit Court yesterday.

He is Roger McKenzie who will have to serve at least 30 years of the sentence before he is eligible for parole.

Allegations are that on April 11, 2005, the accused attacked the complainant and her aunt who were awaiting transportation in Montego Bay, St James.

It is alleged that the complainant who was stabbed several times over her body, died on the spot while her aunt made an escape.

The accused who was allegedly on the run was picked up years later in Bull Bay, St Andrew.
