Damaged door lands sisters in court

A matter concerning two sisters and a damaged door was set for trial in the night court on May 4, in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The defendant, Precious Campbell, from a Kingston 16 address, who is charged with malicious destruction of property, denied the allegations brought against her by her sister as she pleaded not guilty to the charge.

In her defence, the defendant explained to the court that the complainant was lying, motivated by a grudge as she accuses her of habitually stealing her clothes that she receives from abroad.

The court heard that the door was damaged following an argument between both sisters on the day of the incident, March 7, about 9:50 p.m.

The court further heard that the complainant was at home when the accused rushed at her with an iron in her hand and hit it in the door which damaged it causing a hole in the door.

The door was reported to have a value of $4,000.
