Champs patrons issued warning notice
Police yesterday issued a notice to patrons attending the Boys and Girls' Athletics Championships currently being held at the National Stadium.

In a release, The Jamaica Constabulary force said that no firearms, knives, drugs, ice picks, machetes, flag poles (over 12 inches), alcohol, umbrellas (walking stick type), large igloos (not exceeding 14" in length, 12" in width and 8" in height), will be allowed into the National Stadium.

Likewise, the release revealed, no videos or DVD recorders, frozen water bottles, lighters, glass bottles and any other item that can be used to cause serious harm or injury will be allowed inside the venue.

The police also noted that no provision will be made for the storage of prohibited or restricted items at the stadium.

"Licensed firearm holders are being advised to leave their weapons with the local police or make alternative arrangements for safe keeping," the release further noted.

All persons entering the stadium will be subjected to a search, it was also revealed.
