The Guinness Greatness In the streets roadshow got off to a sizzling start last Friday night at Jon 2 Pub Sports Bar on New Cross Road in Fletcher's Land, downtown Kingston.

The event, which is in its first year, will be an ongoing weekly series seeking to connect with Guinness consumers in their community through music, with some of the country's top selectors spinning hits after hits.

With residents, mostly women, already vibing to the early pace set by the Guinness Mobile Music Machine, the onus was left up to popular selectors Nico Bam Bam and Boom Boom to ensure that there wasn't any decline in the evening's entertainment.

Nico Bam Bam stepped up to the plate and immediately made his presence felt with songs like Kartel's Wine Up and Mavado's House Top. The females offered unfailing energy, but they were matched expertly with a barrage of reggae and dancehall hits, while quenching their thirst with repeated sips of Guinness.

full throttle

By the time Boom Boom took over the microphone, the crowd was already operating at full throttle and more and more residents were pouring into the makeshift venue.

The Star Girls crew, which ruled the dance floor all night, flung their bodies against the Guinness Mobile Machine bus, displaying their acrobatic skills to songs like Busy Signal's Up In har belly and Kartel's Party Nite.

Dancehall's famous faces like Unicorn and Sadeke were present and made the most of what was offered.

If the other events match the fun and energy generated in Fletcher's Land, then there's no doubt that the remainder of the series will be nothing short of spectacular.
