Cops probe NYPD officer's murder

The St James police are investigating the death of the Jamaican-born New York Police Department (NYPD) officer who was found dead in a pool on the weekend.

Forty-year-old Roxroy Bucknor was found dead in his father's pool in Ironshore, St James, on Sunday afternoon.

The NYPD officer, who has been living in the United States of America for over 20 years, was on vacation in the island.

The police say that there was no initial evidence of foul play.

According to the police, Bucknor who arrived in the island on Friday was at the pool side with family members but later went missing. It is alleged that the family members became concerned and alerted the police.

The police say Bucknor who could not be found initially was later found floating in his father's pool.

According to the police they are awaiting an autopsy report to determine the cause of death.

Investigations continue.
