Written from experience, Wrong Side of the Law from Star of the month Protoje, shows not only his gift to craft lyrics from a true experience, but also the merging of the arts in his life.

Speaking with The STAR recently, Protoje says Wrong Side of the Law is one of his favourite songs from his debut album 7 Year Itch. He said: "I wrote this song off an incident that happened on a Good Friday where myself and my friend Dutty Bookman were in the car and were involved in an incident with the police. So we decided to make summen positive out of the incident and Bookman went home and wrote a short story from it which he gave me to write the lyrics for the song from. What caught me was the first line of the song, which said 'one day Dutty found himself on the wrong side of the law' and I wrote the song off that one line."

After trading ideas with Bookman, Protoje wrote the song which would soon become a classic of his. The song, apart from being a short story, was also made into a painting by artist Taj Francis, who does most of the artwork for Protoje. The painting, according to Protoje, will be shown in summer at an upcoming art show. "This song really shows the merging of the arts, from a story to a song to a painting and eventually to a video," Protoje said.

Protoje plans to video the song soon. His next video is for his single No Lipstick.
