Rasbert Turner, Star Writer
Old Harbour Bay, St Catherine, was abuzz with excitement yesterday after a fish weighing 250lb was caught and taken ashore. "This can easily swallow you out a sea, look how mi hand go inside him mouth," Kirk Edwards said while showing the size of the fish. A number of vendors gathered in the area after hearing about the huge catch. Some persons were thrilled by the luck of the fisherman, there were others who issued a warning. They told THE WEEKEND STAR that whenever large June fish are caught, the weather pattern usually changes for the worst. "We glad for it and the man wha ketch it wi eat a food from him hard work," Malcolm Thorpe said. It was revealed that the fish is usually sold for $300 per pound and there were already guaranteed buyers. But in all the excitement, a vendor continued to warn her colleagues: "Them always a talk bout disaster coming after dem fish deh." THE WEEKEND STAR was unable to talk to the man who caught the monstrous fish. Carlton 'Yellow' Rodney was said to have still been at sea and had sent the fish to shore with another fisherman.
