Suspect arrested in human trafficking operation

Investigators from the Organised Crime Investigation Division (OCID) on Friday arrested one person on suspicion of human trafficking following the conduct of operations at five locations in the Corporate Area and St Catherine.

A release from the Jamaica Constabulary Force yesterday, said another person was also taken into custody but was processed and released.

OCID personnel are reporting that during the course of their operations seven alleged victims of human trafficking were rescued. The police said the alleged victims, all of Indian decent, have been placed in safe places.

The operations were conducted based on intelligence and surveillance done on a number of business establishments over the last three months, the police said.
