Police believe the burning of an elderly woman's home in Kingston yesterday may have been the work of arsonists who accused her of being a police informer. This, after a man who was wanted by the police for some time was picked up by lawmen when he went there on Saturday. One man has so far being charged in connection with the house fire, but police have declined to give his name saying they are doing further investigations. The wanted man whose name is also being withheld was being sought for robbery. THE STAR understands that the wanted man was called by the elderly woman's house to see if he could identify a strange vehicle exiting the gate of the tenement yard. While there, the police came on the scene and apprehended him. Later in the wee hours of the
morning, fire was seen coming from the house but the blaze was quenched before any major damage. Following investigations, the alleged arson was detained. The police are continuing investigations. |
