Man of unsound mind shot and killed |

A man believed to be of unsound mind was allegedly shot and killed by the police at a plaza in Mande-ville, Manchester, yesterday. Information reaching THE STAR is that the man, known as 'Kartel', was shot after it was claimed that he stabbed a policeman in his neck. A barber, who operates on the plaza, told THE STAR that, "Is a mad man weh always deh pon the plaza a trouble bere woman. Him did a trouble a pregnant woman and she call the police weh did deh nearby a give a taximan a ticket. Di police a talk to him and him start carry on and a cuss. Then the police man ease him off and then the mad man stab the policeman inna him neck." The barber said that the man was then shot. Another source, who was on the scene, gave a similar account of the incident. The Mandeville Police have confirmed the incident, however, they are tight-lipped about the details. |
