Father remorseful after attacking teacher

The father accused of attacking his son's teacher at a homework centre in Kingston recently has denied the allegations and claims that the teacher told a one-sided story.

On Thursday, THE WEEKEND STAR ran a story about the teacher being attacked and beaten after reprimanding a student. But the father called THE WEEKEND STAR yesterday to give his side.

"When the incident did happen, me son come and me see him a cry and him eye did red, so me seh a wha happen to you and him seh teacher lick him, lick him inna him back," the father explained.

He said that he had to take his son for medical treatment because his back was wealed after the female teacher hit him with force.

He admitted going to the centre upon seeing his son back. "He had a mark in his back, so me go up a the centre with a rage and me shake her up, but me never thump her," he said, adding that several students told him the teacher did, in fact, hit his son.

The remorseful father said he knew he was wrong to act in such a manner and he has since apologised and written a formal letter of apology to the teacher and the administration. He also attended a meeting to resolve the matter.

apologised

"When me realise me wrong, me apologise to her the same night and then go a meeting and apologise to her and the teachers," he revealed. "I agreed to pay her medical bills. Is $17,800 mi gi har and she come back the other week seh that she wah $60,000 fi brain scan and me seh me no have them money deh."

Revealing that the child's mother has since agreed to meet the financial demands of the teacher as best she can because they communicate on a regular basis, he again emphasised his regret for the incident saying the teacher is being unreasonable.
