Accused forger gets bail extension
A man who has been accused of forging a cheque valued at $250,000, had his bail extended in the Corporate Area Resident Magistrate Court yesterday.

He is Michael Kennedy, 25, of a Kingston 14 address. He has been charged with forgery, uttering, and obtaining money by means of forged documents.

Kennedy is to return to court on March 31, when the matter will be mentioned for a plea and case management hearing.

Allegations are that in January, the accused visited the Jamaica National Building Society Money Shop in Tivoli Gardens, where he tendered and obtained money from a forged cheque valued at $250,000 in the name Bradley Construction Company.

Upon investigation, it was later revealed that the same cheque was a duplicate cheque of one that had been presented by the same company in December.

The accused, who was arrested and charged allegedly told the police, "officer, a one man mi get the cheque from and if him think mi would do something wrong mi would not go to the bank."
