It couldn't have been scripted better after taking into consideration that the first session of the first two days were lost due to wet and soggy conditions caused by overnight rain.

With one day to go and 221 runs to get for first innings points, the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) Regional Four-day match between Jamaica and the Combined Campuses and Colleges (CCC) could not have been closer.

Resuming 253 for seven, the CCC, who started the game as underdogs, posted a challenging 353.

Jamaica, in their response, then closed the day on 133 for three.

This has made today's fourth and final day a virtual must see for local cricket loving fans, who will be hoping that Jamaica's final seven batsmen will be able to withstand the pressure of a spirited CCC bowling attack, which yesterday looked hell-bent on creating an upset.

The CCC, who entered the game on 27 points and in fourth position, compared to leaders Jamaica on 36, as they did on the first two days, consolidated their position yesterday to post a total, which by the look of things could be match-winning.

Leading the way for the student-cricketers were Jamaican batting all-rounder Nkrumah Bonner who after resuming on four, went on to top score with 87.

An innings that was disciplined as it was exciting, Bonner slammed 10 fours and two sixes during his three and-a-half-hour knock, which was welcomed by the crowd, a fairly large and vocal fan club, which included his immediate family.

The attacking-minded and right-handed Bonner, a student at The Mico University College first took the challenge to pacers Andrew Richardson and Jason Dawes in the first hour of the day, before taking a liking to leg-spinner Odean Brown.

best match of the season

Meanwhile, as it relates to Jamaica, fast bowler Andrew Richardson, in arguably his best match of the season, ended as the top bowler after claiming four for 49 in several penetrating spells.

As for the home team's reply, it started off fairly well with openers Simon Jackson and Danza Hyatt putting on 49 for the first wicket before the former was caught at square leg for 25.

This then brought to the crease the in-form Samuels, who entered the fray to rapturous applause, only to be undone by a delivery from Kavesh Kantasingh, which kept low and rocketed on to his stumps.

Samuels' dismissal brought a hush around the ground, and into the fray the ever-reliable Brendan Nash, who along with Lambert, ended with 14 and 12 not out, respectively, amidst some spirited bowling from leg-spinner Bonner (none for 23 off five overs) and the tournament's leading wicket-taker heading into the round, off-spinner Ryan Austin (one for 12 overs).

Play is slated to resume today at 9:30 a.m., weather permitting.
