A woman who was allegedly caught at the Spanish Town courthouse jail trying to smuggle ganja and other contraband to a prisoner will answer to criminal charges next week. She is Andrea Fisher, 28, otherwise called 'Granny Mom', of Salt Pond Road, Spanish Town, St Catherine. Reports reaching The Portmore Star are that on March 7, about 4:10 p.m., Fisher went to the White Church Street facility to visit an inmate, who attended court and was awaiting transport. She reportedly presented two pairs of slippers to police personnel at the facility to hand over to the inmate. The officers examined the slippers and found that the bottom had a cut. After a detailed check, vegetable matter resembling ganja weighing about four ounces was reportedly seen in the bottom of the slippers. A bag with Rizzla, tobacco and two lighters were found in her possession. Fisher was subsequently charged with possession of ganja. Fisher is to appear in the Spanish Town Resident Magistrate's Court on Tuesday. -R.T. |
