Dear Pastor,
I want to commend you on your advice to the writer of the letter captioned "Reason for jungle fever" which was published on the 10th of February 2011 in the Star. I am happily married to a black Jamaican woman who really loves me. That does not mean that we didn't have our challenges because of our language and cultural differences. We overcame them though with the love and grace of Jesus Christ. In 1985, I was invited and taken to a full gospel church service and there I accepted Jesus in my heart. I was working in building and maintenance. Part of my job was to work at the police station. One day a brother asked me if I could help him take some children from a shelter to a chapel in a large city next to my town. That was when I got to deal with the minority, apart from some neighbours and some at work. After a while, a lady from the church I was attending took me to a ministry in the Bronx and I started to go there on Sundays and I took some people with me. A woman and her daughter travelled with me from another city, and that is where I met my wife. We got married in 1989. Now we pastor a small congregation in Ludlow, next to Springfield. We have visited my family in Germany on at least three occasions, and they accepted my wife without reservation. She would like to live there also. Right now, we are in Jamaica staying at her aunt's house. Her family and friends treat me very well. The Lord has changed my life. E.L., Dear E.L., I am glad that you have embraced Christ as your Saviour and Lord. I am also glad that you are happily married to a Jamaican woman. May God bless your ministry and give you great reward. Pastor |
