One DEAD, ANOTHER INJURED

One man was shot dead and another shot and injured by unknown assailants at Sewell Crescent, May Pen, Clarendon, on Wednesday night.

Dead is Shane Simms, otherwise called 'Curry', also of a Sewell Crescent address.

Reports are that about 9:30 p.m., Simms was among a group of people sitting on a culvert beside a bar when a group of armed men reportedly approached them and opened fire, hitting him and the other man.

They were both taken to hospital where Simms was pronounced dead and the injured man treated and released. The May Pen police are investigating.

Eighteen-year-old Vincent Bryant of Pitfour, St James, was shot dead and another man shot and injured by gunmen at Granville in the parish on Wednesday.

Reports are that about 3:45 p.m., Bryant was among a group of friends sitting in a yard when they were approached by two men, both wearing masks and armed with handguns. The hoodlums reportedly chased Bryant and his friends firing several shots at them. When the shooting subsided, it was discovered that Bryant and one of his friends were shot.

They were taken to hospital where Bryant died while being treated and the injured man admitted in stable condition. The Granville police are investigating.

BSI Probes SHOOTING

The Bureau of Special Investigations (BSI) has commenced a probe into the death of a man who was fatally shot by the police at Burke Road, Old Harbour, St Catherine, about 5:15 p.m. on Wednesday.

He has been identified as 22-year-old labourer Jermaine Walker, otherwise called 'Biah', of Succaba Pen also in the parish.

A Browning 9mm pistol, serial number G33497, and a magazine containing four 9mm cartridges were seized in the incident.

The matter has been reported to the Independent Commission of Investigations (INDECOM) for investigations to be carried out by that department as well.
