With his single 'Life is a Journey' being rotated on the both the local and international airwaves, the Bermuda resident who goes under the moniker Hype Type yearns for more recognition as an artiste.

"I believe that every dog has its day, but still I am not being recognised enough for the songs I have done. As I am sure, many other artistes feel the same way," he said.

Born Joseph Henry in St Thomas, Jamaica, the music lover grew up in Royal Flat, Manchester. Like many artistes, his love for music started at an early age, as his dream was to become a music icon. In his musical venture, Hype Type started performing at various concerts in his community, and writing songs.

Although music is his craft, Hype Type has always made mention of his other skill, barbering, as this is what he does in-between his music career. The artiste is influenced by veteran musicians Papa San and General Trees.

Hype Type has made appearances on a few local stage shows, such as Sting and Saddle to the East in 2001 and 2002, respectively.

While in Bermuda, he has performed alongside artistes like Beenie Man, Mavado, Assassin, Cham and Wayne Wonder.

Hype Type is currently working on his album, to be released soon. Other singles done by the artiste includes High Grade, Mr Robber and Life So Sweet on the New York Entertainment label.

Although not satisfied with the minimal recognition received in the music industry, Hype Type says his aim is to continue to put forth positive and catchy music for his fans around the world. "The future looks bright for the artiste as he has come along way," said producer and friend Christopher 'Damas' Williams.

He also anticipates coming to Jamaica in a few weeks as he is slated to perform on various shows.
