August Town won 2-0. - Gladstone Taylor Defending champions Cavalier are on the brink of retaining their Claro Kingston and St Andrew Football Association (KSAFA) Super League title following a crushing 4-0 win over Santos last Saturday. Things looked bleak for the defending champions two weeks ago when they lost 2-0 to August Town who leapfrogged into first place with two games remaining. But following Saturday's fixtures, August Town could only muster a come-from-behind 1-1 draw with cellar team Real Mona and was replaced at the top by Cavalier with one round remaining. At Collie Smith Drive, the home of Boys' Town where Cavalier play their games, four different scorers propelled Cavalier back to the summit. Richard Williams (12th), Donovan Bernard (37th), Jermaine Grey (67th) and former Santos player Fabian Nethersole (88th) pushed Cavalier to 47 points and a plus 28-goal difference. August Town are second also with 47 points and a plus 26 goal difference as the first tiebreaker was the head-to-head clashes between both clubs for which they share identical 2-0 wins apiece. final match On the final match day, Cavalier will play away to seventh-placed Rae Town while August Town host ninth-placed Barbican. Chad Bennett had given Real Mona a 53rd minute lead but Gee Daley kept August Town alive with a 73rd-minute equaliser at Buttercup Park. The University of the West Indies (UWI) on 41 points consolidated third spot with a 3-1 win over fourth-placed Rockfort on 32 points. Anthony Grant grabbed a brace for UWI in the 20th and 45th minutes, taking his tally to a league high 19 goals and should win the Golden Boots award as he is five goals more than his closest rivals. Devon Smith scored the other in the 15th minute while Peter Fowlin got a consolation goal for Rockfort in the 70th minute. Duhaney Park registered a crucial 1-0 away win over Barbican and climbed out of the relegation zone to 10th on 19 points in the 12-team league. Leonard Gooden scored arguably Duhaney Park's most important goal of the season in the 82nd minute as they registered only their third win from 21 games. Barbican slipped a spot to ninth on 22 points and are safe from relegation. Veteran striker Oneil 'Chippy' McDonald scored a 77th minute goal as Constant Spring confined Bull Bay to bottom spot with a 1-0 win at the Bull Pen. Constant Spring jumped into eighth spot on 23 points with their sixth win of the season while Bull Bay are bottom in 12th spot with 17 points and in grave danger of being relegated. They play Duhaney Park next week in a must-win game or play Major League football next season. Any of the three teams can be relegated as Duhaney Park play Bull Bay in a mammoth encounter and 11th-placed Real Mona tackles Santos. Meanwhile, Mountain View whipped Rae Town 3-1 to be in sixth spot on 28 points, courtesy of goals from Ricardo Reid (35th), Akeem Cohen (40th) and Troyland Williams (76th). Mario McDonald had actually given Rae Town a 17th minute lead but saw his team slump to their ninth defeat of the season and dropped one place to seventh on 26 points. Claro Major League Greenwich Town opened up a three-point lead in the Claro Major League with a close 1-0 home win over Molynes United. Omar Francis' 30th minute winner pushed Greenwich Town to their 10th win from 14 games and onto 32 points, three clear of Olympic Gardens which battled to a 1-1 draw with Shortwood. Molynes United with their 10th loss from 14 games remained in the relegation zone in 10th spot on eight points. Meanwhile, Jason Moore banged in six goals as Brown's Town clobbered the hapless Stony Hill 14-1 to be in ninth spot on 17 points. Moore scored in the 1st, 41st, 60th, 68th, 79th and 84th minutes. Gerald Hibbert grabbed a brace in the 36th and 77th along with a double for Ricardo Clarke in the 70th and 86th minutes. Kamali Coburn (44th), Nicholas Grant (45th), Mikhail George (76th) and Joel Fagan (88th) completed the rout. Cleon George had actually equalised for Stony Hill in the 13th minute before the floodgates were opened. Stony Hill remained firmly at the bottom of the 11-team league with five points from 14 games inclusive of 11 losses. Second-placed Olympic Gardens moved to 29 points after playing to a 1-1 stale-mate with sixth placed Shortwood on 21 points. Garfield Gordon gave Olympic the lead before an own goal in the 61st minute denied them victory. Cooreville Gardens stayed fourth on 25 points after hammering Allman/Woodford 4-0. Goals by Wayne Williams (5th), mark Morris (11th), Daniel Gilzene 70th) and Chevon Montgomery (75th) pushed Cooreville to their seventh win from 15 games to be eight points adrift of the leader with seven rounds remaining.
