Crystal Harrison, Star Writer
THE STAR has received reports that a three-year-old girl is in hospital in stable condition after she was flung from the upstairs balcony of a house recently. Information reaching THE STAR is sketchy, however, the child is said to be suffering from a broken hip, hands, feet, along with bruises. The incident reportedly happened in a St Ann community. It is alleged that the child was left in the care of a female relative by her mother. THE STAR understands that a report was made to The Centre for Investigation of Sexual Offences and Child Abuse (CISOCA) by a teacher at the child's school after the girl turned up for classes with cuts, bruises and burns resembling that from cigarettes. However, it is alleged that the physical abuse continued and climaxed when the child was allegedly flung from the balcony. Several attempts made by THE STAR to confirm the incident with the St Ann police proved futile as the police refused to disclose information on the case. |
