Hasani Walters, STAR Writer
Dreams occur while one is asleep, but for upcoming artiste Blackman he plans to live his dream with eyes wide open. His dream of becoming a household name as a recording artiste has eluded him for a number of years, but somewhere in his mind he believes that soon enough he will rise and get his 'buss' in the music industry. "From mi a likkle youth mi always a listen the radio a sing along and a sing over the song dem weh mi know like from Professor Nuts and dem man deh. Soon a suh a youth a guh sing my song we a play pon the radio," he said. He is extremely proud of his latest song Prayer Pon Prayer on the Massyca rhythm which has been getting good airplay on stations such as Zip , Hot 102 and Hitz FM. While Blackman has only performed at small shows in several different communities, he is adamant that this year will see him take his place on major stage shows islandwide. "Mi a guh out inna di world yah now. People a guh see mi and know me and my music. Later on inna the year, mi a guh deh pon some a dem big show an have the people dem a sing along," he confidently said. According to Blackman, the difference between him and other regular upcoming acts is that he brings a breath of fresh air to the table by using a unique musical style and rhymes that have an 'infectious' flow. He hopes to take his vocals to the four corners of the world and to educate the youth through the messages in his songs. |
