Jamaica's Reggae Boyz are set to tackle South American oppenents Venezuela in an international friendly set for the Montego Bay Sports Complex, Catherine Hall, at the end of this month, but fans could face higher than usual ticket prices due to the limited capacity of the venue.

The newly renovated venue in comparison to the National Stadium, which seats over 30,000, can seat over 7,000 patrons, and that could cause a drop in gate receipts for the Jamaica Football Federation (JFF).

While admitting that faced with the usual expenses associated with hosting an overseas team, and drop in revenue, president of the JFF Captain Horace Burrell insists there is nothing for patrons to worry about.

"In Kingston, for international games patrons pay $1000 for the bleachers which seats around 10,000, and Catherine Hall seats about 3,500. Even when we sell the tickets for $1,000 each you find that based on the seat to ticket ratio we are under selling as it should not be less than $2,000," Burrell said.

"But although we will be losing money we are looking to invest in football and carrying the game to the west is a good way of doing so."

Burrell also admitted to being pleased with the turnout for the CONCACAF Under-17 Championships, which saw Jamaica book themselves a spot to the Under-17 World Cup this summer in Mexico.

"The attendance at the recently concluded championships in western Jamaica has shown a love for the game and that they will support it once the nature of the game is competitive enough," Burrell said.

"For many years we have not been able to have internationals in Montego Bay and the people of western Jamaica and Montego Bay deserve to have international football in their region.

The Reggae Boyz, currently ranked 59th, will play the 63rd-ranked Venezuela in an attempt to stay active as they look to increase their ranking.
