It is a good idea to start sex education at home. But how are parents going to become proficient to teach their children about sex? They were never taught about sex, so from what bank of knowledge would they be able to teach their own children?

Jamaica is the most illiterate island in the English-speaking Caribbean.

We can encourage parents to buy books. Guidance counsellors and pastors have been conducting seminars on proper parenting and sex education. And many parents are much more informed than they used to be. Therefore, I have much more confidence in parents now than before. Parents do not wish to see their children make the same mistakes they made, so they are willing to be guided and be in a position to instruct their children. So, please, don't give up on them.

Radio is a powerful medium for parents who cannot read. Therefore, many tune in to the 'Dear Pastor' show to get their education on family life.
