Inmate in custody for suspicion of murder

An inmate who allegedly stabbed another prisoner to death during a dispute at the St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre on Wednesday was taken into police custody on suspicion of murder.

The dead man has been identified as Roger Manning, an inmate of St Catherine Adult Correctional Centre.

Reports are that about 11:30 am on Wednesday both men were in the yard of the institution when an argument developed between them. During the dispute, a knife was allegedly used to stab Manning all over his upper body.

He was taken to the Spanish Town Hospital,where he died while undergoing treatment.

The Spanish Town police have since arrested the other inmate on suspicion of murder.
